About 75 people had the chance to roam the museum and taste some wine, cheese and other delicacies at out first-annual Wine and Cheese Reception, Thursday May 24th from 5pm to 8pm.
It was an invitation-only event aimed at bringing in members of Edmonton’s business community to see our latest exhibits and learn more about the museum and its financial needs.
Executive Director Jean Lauzon presented an overview of the AAM’s history and plans for the future while Development Director Dave Quist made a pitch for those in attendance to throw their support behind our efforts to keep Edmonton’s aviation history alive.
We were also fortunate to have Edmonton Journal columnist Nick Lees as emcee. Lees has been a great supporter of the museum and we thank him making time in his busy schedule.
Thanks as well to the two dozen local business that contributed prizes for our live and silent auctions. We raised about $2,000. More importantly we made some new contacts and friends to help us as we move ahead with our future plans.
Even the skies were smiling on the event. As people were leaving around 8pm, a rainbow appeared over the museum’s CF-101 Voodo mounted outside, a sure omen of future success.
