Women of Aviation Celebration

Remember the Legacy, Celebrate the Achievements, Shape the Future!

Taking to the skies and shaping the world for a better future. The Alberta Aviation Museum invites you to come out to celebrate their 7th Annual Celebration of Women Of Aviation Worldwide Week (WOAW). Take part in this global movement in aviation at the museum’s authentic WWII hangar March 7th from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm. Join the continuous momentum happening at Blatchford Field (11410 Kingsway).

WOAW is being celebrated internationally from March 2-8 with the museum charting an online awareness campaign profiling the aviation accomplishments of Alberta’s resourceful and tenacious women from our past, present, and future. This momentous activity will lead to our museum celebration event on March 7th – featuring a wide variety of speakers, special exhibits, and activities for all ages.

Challenge yourself through an interactive social media scavenger hunt. Help Katherine Stinson complete the first air mail delivery in Western Canada. Be the first to witness our new exhibit on the evolution of civilian air worker’s rights. Flight simulators for the adventurers, photo booths for the exhibitionists, and a Guinness World Record attempt for a worldwide Pink Paper Plane Challenge: the museum is truly a place where Women’s History Takes Flight!

Women Of Aviation Worldwide Week (WOAW) is a global aviation awareness week for girls of all ages observed to mark the anniversary of the world’s first female pilot licence (March 8, 1910). The week is a call to address gender imbalance in the air and space industry.

Participation is the price of admission.

Stay tuned for more details as they develop.
